Mood:  amorous

It's really only been in recent years that I've considered Valentine's Day to be not only focused on romantic love, but also about celebrating other forms of love.  I think it's important to hold this belief because, in my opinion, love can be categorized in so many ways for so many different relationships - and really, aren't they all equally important to us?  I wouldn't be here today if it weren't for the presence of my faith, my family and my friends.  So, today, I offer a small (but hopefully valuable) gift for each and every one of you.  It's what I call "Life's Secrets to Success" - enjoy, and Happy Valentine's Day!

Never run out of different things to do.
Don't let the past become the present.
Read something of substance every day.
Nurture your talents.
Remember that it's about attitude, not circumstance.
Accept and respect your family.
Donate to and/or volunteer for charity.
Don't take advantage of others weaknesses.
Control your temper.
Keep your commitments.
Appreciate the simple things in life.
Be open to self-improvement.
Welcome in change, knowing everything happens for a reason.
Spend and save wisely.
Always do what's right.
Maintain friendships of quality rather than quantity.
Don't forget to laugh.
Think before you speak.
Have a job that you like for the work done, not the money earned.
Take a yearly vacation.
Make an effort to break bad habits.
Be positive but realistic.
Treat each day as if it were your last.

Update

Topic: Inane Interjections
Mood:  spacey

Current obstacles to fulfilling a dream:

limited energy level
no home office
full-time job
no laptop computer
parents
selfish "friends"
other responsibilities
low money supply
distractions

On the positive side ... What I've learned so far:

The desire to achieve perfection can easily lead to madness.
Photoshop is both a lifesaving tool and an utter frustration.
Some things are best left unsaid, while others must see the light of day.
Trying to accomplish anything with dial-up internet is a complete waste of time.
Only a few in this world will be truly supportive, understanding and happy in one's quest for self-fulfillment.
Be careful when dealing with the past.
Quantity is better than quality.
Microsoft Word is a necessary evil.

And that's all for now.  BBL in a century or so.

Change

Topic: Quaint Quotations
Mood:  silly

While looking over the notes I've composed on my SK3, I found this:

You make me want nothing more than to swiftly, silently and completely die.
You make me want to never smile again.
You have resurfaced my past of anxiety and depression to a greater point than it has ever been in a decade.
You make me want to isolate myself from everyone and everything that gives any meaning to my existence.
You make me view what's perfectly beautiful in this world as so hideously ugly.
You make me wish I had never met you.
You have led me to believe that you are just one of many in a vicious cycle - nothing more and nothing less.
You make me want to give up - the one thing I've always refused to do in life.

I wrote it on July 31, 2007.  It is now September 7, 2007.  Amazing how much can change in just a little over a month, no?

Fulfilling a dream.

Topic: Marnie's Musings
Mood:  energetic

After all these years, I'm finally getting to it.  I've recently started, through my own accord and motivation, the one thing that will represent my greatest accomplishment thus far.  It's a dream I procrastinated about for so long due to fear, slothfulness, uncertainty and life itself...  Yet I feel that it is time - time to confront the past, experience the present and look forward to the future.  Truly, now it is.

Best Week Ever

Topic: Marnie's Musings
Mood:  a-ok

It's no mere coincidence that, through the absence of a particular individual, the last seven days have represented the simplest, calmest and most peaceful week of my life in several months.

The funny thing is, it's also been professionally unproductive and socially predictable - but amazingly, even without having much of anything to distract me from what would typically cause depression, angst and annoyance, I have yet to find myself brooding, scrutinizing or even really thinking about it at all.

For once, time has not prolonged the negative reactions, the painful yearning or the subtle brainwashing that characterized my daily routine since earlier this year.

Instead, it plays a major role in desensitizing, strengthening and revitalizing me.

Because after all that's been said and done, I'm over feeling useless, inadequate, disrespected and discarded for the sake of what only disguised itself as unconditional, selfless and genuine love.

Now I know better...

Now I can say that I know two things, two very important truths:  I love me more...

And enough is enough.
